Total Dissolved Solids in your swimming pool can lead to all kinds of problems with your water, even if you are putting the perfect amount and ratio of pool chemicals into your pool. Total Dissolved Solids is the amount of solid material from debris, sweat, dissolved chemicals, dirt, and other contaminants that have saturated your water to an unsafe level.
If the TDS level is too high, your new pool chemicals you add on a weekly basis cannot dissolve and treat the water properly. This will lead to algae growth, cloudy water, irritated eyes and skin among other things. The only solution to a high TDS level is to drain the pool and refill it with fresh water and new chemicals. Every pool should be drained at least once every 4-5 years. If you have lived in your home for 5 years and have NEVER drained your swimming pool, now is the time. Avoid costly summer chemical expenses while trying to combat pool problems that won't go away without draining the pool. Early spring is the best time to drain your pool because once the temperatures get too hot, we cannot drain a plaster pool or we risk the heat damaging the pool walls. Get your pool drained now so that it will be ready to go when it heats up. It time to clean your Pool Filter! You've swam in your pool all summer long. Monsoon Dust Storms have also deposited a lot of dirt in your pool. If you haven't cleaned your pool filter this summer, NOW is the time. Your pool filter ideally should be cleaned every quarter, but many customers skimp out on this necessary maintenance item, only to reap the ill effects later down the road. The easiest thing owners can do to cut down on pool pump repair costs is make sure all skimmer baskets and pump baskets are in good shape. Even small cracks in these baskets can allow debris into the pool pump which begins problems. As soon as you suspect your pool pump might be having problems, it's wise to call Blue Cactus Pool Service to inspect your equipment. Small problems can quickly escalate into bigger, more costly, pool pump repairs. Call Blue Cactus Pool Service LLC today for your spring equipment inspection:
623-889-1366 Too much rain can cause your pool water to rise to level which can cause MAJOR problems. As the water rises to the top of the tile and reaches the bottom side of the deck, the water will begin to drain between the top of the tile/pool and the deck. As it finds it way over under the deck, it will then drain down the back side of the pool's shell. The water will erode the soil which is supporting the entire pool. In a worst case scenario, the water can erode enough soil and the pool loose enough support that the entire pool moves, cracks, and even snaps re-bar under the weight of thousands of gallons of pool water.
If your pool has a sand or DE filter, you should backwash your pool until you have drained enough water. The proper water level should be so the mouth of the skimmer is half full or about 3 inches from the bottom of the skimmer. Do not drain too much water out of your pool or the pump will begin to suck air and can burn out. If you have a cartridge filter (no backwash system), you need to call Blue Cactus Pool Service LLC who will bring out a portable pump to lower the water level. Again, too much water in your pool can literally ruin your entire pool costing tens of thousands of dollars to repair. Call Blue Cactus Pool Service LLC as soon as possible. 623-889-1366 |
