When your pool equipment has gotten this old, it is definitely time to replace. Not only is the pool filter performance very poor, it can also be dangerous at this stage. The fiberglass shell of this sand filter can be weakened by age and the sun. Pressure from normal operation can eventually cause the filter to crack or explode. Also, anytime you have a chance to switch from a sand filter to either a cartridge filter or a DE filter you should definitely upgrade. As discussed in our earlier Blog Post, sand filters often struggle. They just aren't able to filter out as small of particles as cartridge filters or DE filters. Also sand filters only have a TINY surface area that can actually filter. 3 to 4 square feet is all most sand filters can handle at any one time. Most DE filters are 48 to 60 s/f and most cartridges range from 325 to 525 s/f of available surface area to filter. Upgrading your filter and getting new PVC piping installed is more affordable than most people think. AZ ROC #278248 Your pool filter is VITALLY IMPORTANT to the health of your pool. Most of the pool filters we see are not cleaned nearly enough. At minimum, we would recommend cleaning the filters 3 or 4 times each year. AT MINIMUM. Every other month or monthly would be ideal. Some people are shocked to hear this, but pictures do not lie. Whether you have a cartridge filter or a DE filter, they work very hard collecting all kinds of dirt, debris, and junk out of the water. The more often they can be cleaned out the healthier the water will be.
Learning to clean your own filter is not hard. If financial concerns are the main reason holding you back from getting your pool filter cleaned more often, we would be happy to show you how to do it yourself. A clean pool filter is also tied directly to the performance of the pool pump and pool motor. As a pool filter gets dirtier, the pressure inside the filter rises. This increased PSI causes the pool pump and pool motor to work harder. This puts undo stress on the entire pool equipment set up. CALL or EMAIL Blue Cactus Pool Service LLC to schedule your pool filter clean today! We can also help with a pool filter repair or new pool filter install. Our Tile Cleaning Process
As you are probably aware, the water throughout the Valley is very hard. This causes mineral build up on tile, pebble tec, stone, water features, etc. Some pools have gotten so saturated they should be completely drained, cleaned, and refilled with "new" water. This is recommended when the TDS has gotten too high. Other times the customer simply wants the tile cleaned without draining the whole pool. Yes this is possible! We drain the water about 6-8" below the tile. Then we clean the tile using a safe glass bead product at lower air pressure. The mineral and calcium buildup is removed, leaving the surface beautiful again without any damage. The beads settle to the bottom of the pool, where they are vacuumed out after the cleaning is complete. Your pool, spa, and water features will be clean and ready to use. We have openings to get your tile cleaned ASAP. It is NOT too late in the season. Call or Email us and we can easily give you a quote, based the perimeter footage of your pool.
